Although the majority of the trailers for Tears of the Kingdom have been secretive and vague, the final pre-release preview of the game has provided some much-needed hype, while also hinting at the return of something that BOTW was missing - classic, Zelda -style dungeons. Although BOTW 's various shrines and Divine Beasts served a similar purpose, the shrines' general shortness and consistent aesthetic meant they couldn't fill the same niche, and the Divine Beasts' shared gimmick and lackluster...

Another key detail of note is the appearance of several of Tears of the Kingdom ’s eponymous Tears throughout the trailer, one of which appears in the possession of both Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Korok seeds and this new character. The yellow Tear is seen worn around both Hylians’ necks, and being held loosely in Zelda’s hands as her voice says there is " something only I can do. " It appears that the Tears possess significant magical powers; a red Tear appears to be involved in Ganondorf’s rev...

The reviewer at Polygon noted that despite their best efforts to fuse random items in chaotic ways, Tears of the Kingdom never once prevented them from attempting something. Experimenting with creativity appears to be at the heart of TOTK 's philosophy, allowing players to truly try whatever comes into their minds, even though some of those ideas may end up killing Link as well as the Bokoblins. The game encourages everyone to try different varieties of fusing items together to see what they get...

For some, the idea of focusing on all this crafting, building, and fusing may not sound as fun as the classic Zelda focus on exploration and fighting. The hack-and-slash method of combat will still work just fine, but the world of TOTK will require some of the new features to be used for exploration and puzzles. If this new focus on creation does not sound fun to a player, then they can limit it to only where absolutely necessary, but it will still be a major mechanic of the g I mean no dis...

Despite Tears of the Kingdom being a direct sequel , the game seems to be mostly abandoning the structure of BOTW , opting instead for what looks like more traditional Zelda -style dungeons with discreet themes. While it's impossible to know for sure how the game's structure will shake out before its release, the final trailer seems to at least indicate that TOTK 's dungeons will each have some association with certain elements, as Link can be spotted working his way through specific challenges ...

Another interesting possibility is Paya, who could herself be seen as Impa’s successor. Although the timid Sheikah was only a supporting character in the story of Breath of the Wild , the sequel offers an excellent opportunity to develop Paya as a character. With the remnants of the Yiga Clan potentially still a threat even after the death of Master Kohga in BOTW , Paya could become a central character in a storyline focussed around the deep schism between her people and their disaffected cousin...

There are several potential candidates for playable characters in Tears of the Kingdom , with perhaps the most obvious being the successors of the four fallen Champions: Sidon, Yunobo, Riju, and Teba. All four characters have previously been playable in Age of Calamity , which presented mechanics that could now be replicated in Tears of the Kingdom . For example, Riju’s method of fighting alongside her Sand Seal Patricia is an excellent example of engaging combat mechanics. The other members of ...

None of the previewers felt that the two-hour block of time they had to interact with this environment of TOTK was enough time to really grasp all that was available, but they did seem to agree that this Zelda takes on a new approach to the adventure series. Ars Technica even went so far as to describe some of the feelings of construction and crafting as being more similar to Minecraft or even Kerbal Space Program , because of the number of catastrophic failures, than a typical Zelda Tears of th...

If every incarnation of Link is treated as essentially the same character, then there are very few playable characters in the core The Legend of Zelda franchise. The sole major alternative is Princess Zelda Tears of the Kingdom cheats in Spirit Tracks , where players are able to guide her in possessing Phantoms. Aside from this, Makar and Medli are briefly playable in The Wind Waker , as is Kafei in Majora’s Mask . Meanwhile, in the Hyrule Warriors games, many more popular characters are playabl...

Of course, there is also the near-certain possibility of entirely new characters being introduced to TOTK to consider. For example, with so much focus being placed on the Zonai Tribe in Tears of the Kingdom , the introduction of a member of this seemingly extinct civilization in some capacity is logically a strong capacity. As time travel could play a role in TOTK , even if the Zonai tribe is truly extinct in Hyrule’s present, it does not entirely preclude Link from encountering them. Alternativ...
